Skyline Vegetable Land – Thanamalwila

A refined plantation design crafted with precision—combining well-planned field layouts, expertly selected crops, and premium agricultural practices to create a productive, sustainable, and modern plantation environment.

About the Project

This long-term agricultural development project, situated in Thanamalwila, covers a total land area of 320 perches and is designed to operate over a planned 20-year period. The project focuses on cultivating a range of high-value vegetable crops including green cucumber, malu miris (curry chilli), chilli, and bitter gourd—each carefully selected for their strong market demand, adaptability to the region’s climate, and potential for year-round production.

To maximise productivity, the project incorporates modern plantation planning methods such as soil preparation, drip irrigation, organic fertilization, pest-control management, and structured crop rotation systems. These practices help maintain soil fertility, reduce operational risk, and improve overall crop quality. In addition, the project aims to introduce periodic yield monitoring, workforce management, and continuous improvements in farming techniques to ensure steady and sustainable growth.

With a 20-year development strategy, the plantation is positioned to generate profitable and consistent harvests, strengthen local employment opportunities, and contribute to both domestic supply chains and future export potential. The overall goal is to build a stable, eco-friendly, and commercially successful vegetable cultivation model that can support long-term economic benefits for the region.

What We Did

We prepared the 320-perch land in Thanamalwila, installed drip irrigation, and set up planting beds for cucumber, malu miris, chilli, and bitter gourd. Using organic fertilizers, pest-control methods, and planned crop rotation, we established a strong foundation for a sustainable 20-year plantation project.

Prepared and optimized the entire 320-perch land area

Established a complete drip irrigation system

Created ideal planting beds for all selected crops

Implemented organic and sustainable farming practices

Set up long-term systems for monitoring and productivity

Laid a strong foundation for a stable and income-generating 20-year plantation

This project establishes a fully planned, professionally designed plantation in Thanamalwila—built on modern irrigation, structured crop management, sustainable farming practices, and long-term operational stability. With a strong foundation already in place, the plantation is positioned to generate consistent yields, steady income, and ongoing agricultural development for the next two decades.

Challenges & Solutions – Thanamalwila Plantation Project

Through systematic planning, modern farming methods, and effective field management, the project successfully overcame key challenges related to land preparation, irrigation, pests, soil health, labour, and market conditions. These solutions created a stable foundation for a productive and sustainable 20-year plantation model in Thanamalwila.

Challenges

Site limitations and design expectations posed several challenges during the build.
Uneven Land & Soil Variations
Water Management in Dry Climate Zones
Pest & Disease Threats
Maintaining Soil Fertility Long-Term
Labour Coordination & Field Management
Market Consistency & Demand Fluctuations

Solutions

We adapted with smart, efficient solutions to meet both functional and aesthetic goals.
We improved the land by assessing soil, ploughing, leveling, and adding organic matter to ensure fertile, uniform planting beds for healthy crop growth.
We installed drip irrigation with filtration and scheduled water distribution to maximize efficiency and ensure consistent crop hydration in dry conditions.
We used eco-friendly pest control, regular monitoring, and proper spacing to protect crops and reduce disease.
We maintained soil fertility through crop rotation, organic fertilizing, composting, and mulching to support long-term productivity.
We organized skilled workers, set task schedules, and provided training to ensure smooth plantation operations.
We selected steady-demand crops, used staggered planting, and explored contract and export options for stable income.
